I grew up in the house where my father was born, on a Minnesota farm that my Great-grandfather bought in 1892.

After high school I wandered for a while: I went to college in Seattle, Washington and Fargo, North Dakota. Then I moved back to Washington, then North Dakota, and finally back to Minnesota.

All along the way I’ve tried to craft words that will catch people’s imaginations. As a child, I was obsessed with books of all kinds. I read and reread Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings trilogy, adventure stories, and hundreds of other books. As an adult, I continued to read. I began to write: poetry, stories, sermons, and articles.

It was years before I wrote a book. It took me so long because early in life I believed that to write a book you need to know all the answers. About the time I turned 40, I realized that was a laughable idea. I started scribbling. From Slavery to Freedom was that first book, published in 2009, and it was a long journey. I published that book through a traditional publishing house. I was so excited. But the dissatisfaction and restlessness in me continued to grow. So in 2019, I published New Wineskins, a commentary on the gospel of Luke. That book, and all my books since, have been published as an independent author.

Throughout the years ideas for novels grew in my mind, and I started to write those ideas down. My first novel, Death on Disappointment Mountain, came out in the fall of 2023. A sequel is in process, and it should be available this summer. I have several other projects in the works, both fiction and non-fiction.

I’m so excited to create books that allow me to connect with readers. I hope you will enjoy them.

Please feel free to email me. And if you’re willing, I’d love to have you put up a rating or a review on Amazon, GoodReads, or any other place people can find out about my books. Thanks!
